They Raised $500K to Fix Lunch.

Lunch should not be this fucking complicated.

You wake up, open three delivery apps, stare at 400 options you don't want, pay too much, wait too long, and somehow end up eating the same sad chicken wrap you had yesterday. Ahmad A. and Ghada Zanaty thought there had to be a better way. So in 2025 they started Funch in Dubai around one simple idea. Pick your preferences once and let lunch just show up.

The model is deliberately boring, which is part of why it’s interesting. Funch charges AED 19 a day, has no delivery fee, and lets you skip or pause whenever you want. Behind the scenes, the company uses demand forecasting, route optimization and menu planning to make the economics work. During its early rollout, it says it delivered more than 75,000 meals with 99.8 percent delivery accuracy. It then raised $500K in pre-seed funding to scale the operation.

The bigger idea is that lunch probably shouldn't be a marketplace at all. It should be infrastructure. Funch isn't asking you to browse better. It’s trying to remove the decision entirely. That sounds almost too simple, which is usually when we start paying attention. Plenty of startups are trying to reinvent complicated industries with complicated software. Funch looked at lunch and decided the answer might just be to make the whole fucking thing disappear.
